Does the modern State of Israel prove that the Jews are still God’s chosen people apart from Jesus Christ? In this powerful and controversial teaching, Sam Shamoun addresses Christian Zionism, the land of Israel, Zechariah 12–14, Romans 11, and what the New Testament says about the true people of God.
Sam Shamoun explains that God allowing a nation to possess land does not automatically mean that nation has God’s approval or is His chosen people. Using Deuteronomy 2, Amos 9, Isaiah 19, Daniel 2, Jeremiah 25, and Isaiah 45, Sam Shamoun shows that God also gave land, power, victory, and authority to pagan nations such as the Ammonites, Moabites, Edomites, Philistines, Syrians, Babylonians, and Persians.
The discussion then turns to the key issue: if God used pagan rulers like Nebuchadnezzar and Cyrus, does that make them God’s chosen people? Sam Shamoun argues that the same logic cannot be used to claim that modern Israel’s existence proves divine approval. Instead, the New Testament reveals that Jesus Christ is the true Seed of Abraham, and only those united to Christ become God’s chosen people.
Sam Shamoun also addresses Matthew 21, where Jesus warns that the kingdom would be taken from those who rejected Him and given to a nation bearing fruit. The teaching emphasizes that Jews still have hope, but only through repentance, baptism, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and becoming part of His Church.
Finally, Sam Shamoun warns Christians against exalting modern political Zionism above the Lord Jesus Christ and the New Testament. He challenges believers to read the Old Testament in light of Christ, understand prophecy correctly, and recognize that the Church is the people of God in Jesus Christ.
