What really happens during Jesus Christ’s 1,000-year reign—and why will God release Satan from the abyss afterward? In this powerful biblical discussion, Sam Shamoun explains the bottomless pit, the imprisonment of Satan and the demons, the millennial kingdom, and the events described in Revelation 20. If Jesus rules the earth with perfect justice, why would anyone still choose to rebel against Him?
Sam Shamoun explains that during the thousand-year reign of Christ, believers who participate in the first resurrection will be raised immortal, imperishable, and morally incorruptible. These glorified saints will reign with Jesus Christ and exercise authority over the nations. Meanwhile, mortal unbelievers who survive the destruction of the opposing armies will continue living, dying, and having children under the perfect government of the Messiah.
The conversation then reveals why Satan must be released after the millennium. Even after humanity experiences Jesus Christ ruling visibly with perfect righteousness—without corrupt politicians, unjust judges, bribery, or evil laws—many will still reject Him. Satan will deceive the nations, symbolically called Gog and Magog, and gather them against the saints and the beloved city. Their rebellion demonstrates the depth of human sin, depravity, and hatred of God.
Finally, Sam Shamoun connects Revelation 20 with Pharaoh, the Exodus, Israel’s golden calf, the lake of fire, and the final judgment. Seeing God’s power does not automatically produce repentance. Those who continually surrender themselves to sin can become so hardened that they would rather follow Satan than submit to Jesus Christ—even while witnessing Christ’s perfect messianic kingdom firsthand.
