After coming to Christ, studying Scripture and reading the early Church Fathers—including St. Ignatius of Antioch, St. Irenaeus and St. Polycarp—he began questioning everything he had believed about Catholicism. His greatest struggle concerned the Blessed Virgin Mary, but Christ’s promise concerning His Church would not leave him alone.
If the Catholic Church had completely abandoned the faith, did Christ fail when He promised that the gates of Hades would never prevail against His Church? Was Christ’s promise untrue?
