Can a Christian be united to Christ—and later be cut off? The doctrine commonly called “Once Saved, Always Saved” claims that anyone who permanently falls away was never truly saved. But is that what Scripture actually says?
In this powerful exchange, Sam Shamoun examines Jesus’ warning in John 15: branches genuinely connected to the vine can fail to remain, be cut off and be thrown into the fire. Paul gives the same warning in Romans 11: believers stand by faith, must not become proud, and can be cut off if they abandon faithfulness.
We also examine Galatians 5, where Paul warns Christians that they can be “severed from Christ” and “fallen away from grace,” and Philippians 3, where Paul says that he has not yet obtained the final prize but continues pressing toward the finish line.
God is perfectly faithful—but Scripture repeatedly commands believers to remain in Christ, continue in faith and endure to the end. Salvation is not permission to become unfaithful to the covenant. We must abide in Christ and finish the race.
Watch until the end, examine every passage and answer this question: How can someone be cut off from Christ if that person was never united to Christ?
