Wait a minute! Did Pope Leo just tell US to “listen up”? I thought the whole point of Synodality was for the Vatican to finally start listening to US?
His Holiness told us to not to “retreat into your own convictions and religious certainties.” But what would motivate the Vatican to listen to us other than the courage of our “convictions and religious certainties”? I thought that was the whole point of Synodality.
Which is it, Holiness—are we supposed to do the Synodal thing and tell you how it’s going to be, or are we supposed to shut up and get over our “religious certainties”?
But apart from all this, to what “convictions and religious certainties” is Leo referring? Catholics today have arguably never been more uncertain about their religious convictions than at any other time in history. So, who is he talking to?
