Part 1 (Lies 10-7) – For 20 years, “Pastor Kenny” heard these claims about the Catholic Church and repeated them to his congregations without checking them. Catholic apologist Dave Armstrong has heard and debunked them more times than he can count in over 30 years of apologetics. He has ranked the top 10, and after 30 years of debating anti-Catholics, he calls them what they are: lies. Part 1 covers lies #10 through #7. Priests are forced into celibacy because the Church hates marriage (Paul and Jesus say otherwise). Catholics are forbidden to read or interpret the Bible (there were 18 German editions before Luther, and Pius XII ordered daily Bible reading). Catholics must pray to saints instead of God (James 5:16 says why we ask the righteous to pray). And transubstantiation was invented in 1215 (Protestant historian Philip Schaff traces it to the church fathers).

THREE MORE LIES Protestants Believe About Catholicism (Ranked by Dave Armstrong) — Part 2 (Lies 6-4) – Catholic Bible Highlights
Does purgatory deny the sufficiency of the cross? No! Does the Catholic Church anathematize all Protestants to hell? Again, no! Finally, does the Mass re-sacrifice Jesus? No! In part two of our three-part series on anti-Catholic lies, Dave Armstrong and Kenny Burchard confront and correct three more of the most-often told lies about Catholicism. Part III – THE 3 WORST LIES Protestants Believe About Catholicism (Ranked by Dave Armstrong) – Catholic Bible Highlights
Do Catholics put the Church and tradition above the Bible? Do we believe in salvation by works? Do we worship Mary as a goddess? Catholic apologist Dave Armstrong ranked these as the three worst lies about Catholicism, and in this series finale, he and former Protestant pastor Kenny Burchard answer each one. Dave lays out the three-legged stool of Bible, Church, and Tradition, with the Church as “the pillar and bulwark of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15), the council’s decree in Acts 15:28, and Dei Verbum 9-10. On salvation, we read James 2 and the two passages Dave calls the best: the rich young man (Mark 10:17-21) and the sheep and the goats (Matthew 25). Then the number one lie, answered from Lumen Gentium chapter 8 and the Catechism (CCC 2113). And Kenny confesses he once accused Catholics of worshiping Mary from his own pulpit.
