In 1846, the Catholic Church elected the man the world called “the liberal pope.” Eighteen years later, that same man would issue the most uncompromising condemnation of the modern world ever written by a pope.
How does that happen?
In December of 1864 β on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception β Pope Pius IX issued Quanta Cura, and attached to it the Syllabus of Errors: a numbered list of 80 propositions, drawn from his own teachings over almost two decades, that the Catholic Church formally condemned and ordered every bishop in the world to handle “as they would the contagion of a fatal pestilence.”
What Gregory XVI began in 1832 with Mirari Vos, Pius IX completed here. Mirari Vos drew the line. The Syllabus drew the map. Eighty errors. Each one named. Each one condemned. Each one β and listen carefully β each one now treated as self-evident truth by the Secular Forces of our own age.
π WHAT QUANTA CURA & THE SYLLABUS CONDEMNED:
Religious liberty as a civil right
The separation of Church and State
Civil marriage and the dissolution of the sacrament
Secular education and the state’s monopoly on schooling
The supremacy of the State over the Church
Religious indifferentism and Protestantism as “another form” of Christianity
The autonomy of human reason apart from divine revelation
Pantheism, naturalism, rationalism, socialism, communism
And β in the most famous line ever written by a pope β Proposition 80: that the Roman Pontiff “can, and ought to, reconcile himself, and come to terms with progress, liberalism and modern civilization.” He cannot. He ought not. He will not.

βοΈ ROME HAS SPOKEN β PAPAL ENCYCLICALS SERIES
Every papal encyclical is a letter from Christ’s Vicar to all Catholics β and most of them have been buried. This series brings them back. One encyclical at a time, we’re recovering what the Church actually taught before Babylon rewrote the story.
Pius IX condemned every foundation of modern civilization in 1864. The modern West built itself on every one of them by the year 2000. That is not coincidence. That is prophecy.
Rome already spoke. We just stopped listening.
