We need Dads #Catholic – Roger Maxson

I’ve noticed a few things.

  1. A lot of men in their prime have said they don’t feel like they can call their fathers for advice.
  2. Men need examples.
  3. A lot of men feel lost, likely due to 1 and 2.

A LOT of people have grown up without fathers, or without good fathers. But, many of OUR fathers did, too.

It’s also the case that, my entire life, Hollywood portrayed MANY fathers as imbeciles, or absent, or drunks, or simply mocked the idea (with a few glowing exceptions).

I like a lot of those shows and movies. But fatherhood is indispensable. It’s a vocation with a very real effect in the world.

I’d wager that a lot of the depression, and relationship problems, and even bad views about God all around us, have been affected by the decline in fatherhood.

And we can stop the free fall, by God’s grace.
