Are the Jews still God’s chosen people—and what does the New Testament teach about Israel, antisemitism, and salvation through Jesus Christ? In this powerful biblical discussion, Sam Shamoun responds to claims about the Jewish people, Candace Owens, modern Israel, dispensationalism, the seven-year tribulation, and the pre-tribulation rapture. Sam Shamoun explains why Christians must avoid two extremes: claiming that Jewish identity excuses unbelief and sin, or claiming that God has completely rejected and abandoned the Jews.
Sam Shamoun examines Galatians 3 and explains that the promised seed of Abraham is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the true Israel, the ideal Israel, and the faithful servant who succeeded where the nation failed. Sam Shamoun connects Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness with Israel’s 40 years in the wilderness, showing how Jesus recapitulated Israel’s history and fulfilled the Old Testament Scriptures. Isaiah 42, Isaiah 49, John 15, Romans 2, and Galatians reveal a new Torah, a new covenant, and a true Israel united to Jesus Christ.
The conversation then explores earthly Jerusalem and heavenly Jerusalem through Galatians 4, Hebrews 12, and Revelation. Sam Shamoun explains the symbolism of Sarah and Hagar, Mount Sinai, Zion, the New Covenant, Moses, Joshua, salvation by grace, and the biblical connection between the names Joshua, Yeshua, and Jesus. The earthly Joshua brought Israel into the Promised Land, while Jesus Christ brings believers into heavenly Jerusalem and eternal rest.
Finally, Sam Shamoun addresses whether Jewish people can be saved while rejecting Jesus Christ. Romans teaches that the Gospel is the power of God for salvation “to the Jew first and also to the Greek,” but judgment also comes to the Jew first because greater revelation brings greater accountability. Sam Shamoun explains why a true Christian cannot be antisemitic: Christians worship Jesus Christ, the Jewish Messiah, the root and offspring of David, the Israelite who is God over all. Christians must love Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and all humanity enough to proclaim the Gospel and point everyone to salvation through Jesus Christ.
