🙏 Worried about tomorrow? St. Francis de Sales offers a beautiful lesson in Christian trust.
We often suffer over things that have not yet happened—uncertain outcomes, coming trials, responsibilities, losses, and circumstances beyond our control.
St. Francis de Sales counsels the anxious Christian soul:
“Do not fear what may happen tomorrow.”
Why? Because the same heavenly Father who cares for us today will care for us tomorrow.
✝️ This does not mean that God promises a life without suffering. St. Francis teaches that God may shield us from a trial—or give us the strength necessary to bear it faithfully.
“Either He will shield you from suffering, or will give you unfailing strength to bear it.”
Christian abandonment to Divine Providence is not passivity.
We pray.
We fulfill our duties.
We act prudently.
We use the lawful means God provides.
Then, having done what God asks of us today, we entrust what remains beyond our control to Him.
🕯 “Be at peace, then, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations.”
The Cross may remain. Tomorrow may still be unknown. But Christian peace does not depend upon knowing what tomorrow will bring.
Tomorrow remains beneath the loving Providence of God.
