Can the Catholic Church Reverse Its Own Dogma? | #Shorts #ViralShorts – Excerpta Catechismi

❓ Can the Catholic Church define a dogma today that contradicts a dogma taught before?

No. A dogma is not merely a theological opinion or an idea invented by churchmen. It is a truth revealed by God and proposed by the Church for belief as divinely revealed. Because God is Truth, one truth revealed by Him cannot make another revealed truth false.

📖 Catholic doctrine can develop by becoming clearer and more explicit. When heresy or confusion arises, the Church may define more precisely what the Apostolic Faith has always contained. Her definitions concerning the Holy Trinity and the two natures of Christ clarified Revelation; they did not replace it.

Authentic development preserves the same revealed meaning and judgment. Contradiction would make an earlier truth false—and therefore cannot be genuine doctrinal development.

The Faith can be explained more clearly. It can never become its opposite.
