In 1348 Clement VI rejected a rumor that Jews poisoned the wells. However, in 1948 the Israeli army ran Operation Cast Thy Bread, a typhoid/dysentery campaign, where they indeed poisoned the wells with bacteria to win the war against Egypt and the Arabs. Full sources included.
